Your Donations Make a Difference

Sans Souci relies on your donations of clothing, furniture and other household items for resale through our thrift store and for the Sans Souci Online Auction. The revenue collected from the sale of items in the store provide over 80% of the funding needed to support Sans Souci’s daily operations and programs. The Sans Souci thrift store offers very affordably priced items for all members of our community. 

 

DROP OFF DONATIONS

We want to make donating as simple as possible for you.  Donations are collected at Sans Souci in the rear of the building every Monday through Friday from 10am – 5pm and on Saturday from 10am – 4pm.  We always have staff available to help you unload your donations and provide a receipt for your tax purposes. 

 

DONATION PICKUP:

If you have items that are too heavy to move, or too large for your vehicle, please contact us for a free pickup within Bartholomew County.  Pickups are made Monday-Friday, 9am – 12noon and 1:30pm – 4:30pm. 

Please plan ahead; due to high demand, pickups of acceptable items are typically scheduled 2-4 business days in advance. 

To schedule your donation pickup, please call 812-372-3419.  Please note that per Sans Souci policy, staff/drivers cannot enter a residence for any reason. We request that all donations to be picked up are in an accessible and weather protected area such as a garage, driveway or porch.

Most Needed Donations

While all donations are needed and greatly appreciated, we are frequently asked what our top donation needs are. We will update this area as our needs change!
Our current top needs are: men’s clothing, coats (all sizes) and plus size clothing
Sans Souci is open Monday-Friday from 10 AM – 5 PM and Saturday 10 AM – 4 PM.
We are closed on Sundays.
Sans Souci happily accepts donations of items like clothing, shoes, coats, housewares, dishes/plates, seasonal items, small appliances, larger electric appliances and furniture items like couches, tables and chairs.
Sans Souci greatly appreciates every donation that we receive!
However, when Sans Souci receives items that we cannot sell, we must dispose of them. Disposal of the following items can be costly and when we are left with these costs, the amount of funds we have available to help community members and our employees reduces. Sans Souci’s mission statement is to be the community partner that improves the ability of our neighbors to support themselves “without worry.” Together, we can help accomplish this mission and make Bartholomew County a better place to live and work.
Due to Indiana state guidelines, Sans Souci does not accept the following items:
  • Televisions
  • Computers
  • Monitors
  • Mattresses
  • Box springs Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Gas appliances
  • Large commercial desks
  • Entertainment centers
  • Car seats
  • Air conditioners
  • Furnaces
  • Helmets of any kind
  • Fireworks
  • Ammunition
  • Alcohol
  • Opened or expired food
  • Open makeup
  • Sensitive documents
  • Remodel items like fixtures (unless brand-new), carpet, lumber, vanities and paint
  • Pianos or organs
  • Tires
  • Items that are wet or have strong odors
  • Household trash
Please call 812-372-3419 or email a question or picture to info@sanssouci.org Do you provide a tax receipt? Yes, tax receipts are available upon request for both in-person donating and pickup donation.
Loose donation items need to be contained either in a box or bag. It is very difficult for us to get your totes back, so our preference is for you to bring them in something you don’t need back. Clothing should be taken off of the hangers, but the hangers can be donated as well.
